Now Playing Tracks

I made a couple of adjustments to the cuts in the video. Nothing too drastic, but I believe it flows a lot better now. I am overall pleased with the way this has turned out.

Music: Vanished by Crystal Castles.

Actors: Danin Jacquay & Devin Reese.

This is my first full edit of my Design for Media final project. I feel that this music video is complete as is, but I may make some changes after my class critique tomorrow. :P

So, here is all that has happened since last week:

-I shot all of the footage needed for my video.

-I have shortened the song I will be using by half.

-I have a whopping 14 seconds of my video edited.

View my previous post to see a couple of screenshots documenting my process..

These screenshots show my process of trimming the music down and the first stages of my editing in iMovie. I plan to switch over to Adobe After Effects once I have used iMovie to choose the best clips from my footage.

Final Project Progress

I have chosen the look for my model. Her hair and makeup will look something like this; Smoky eyes and straight luxurious hair-

I am not 100% sure who the female model will be yet- I have a couple of girls that I am waiting to hear from.

My friend dustin has agreed to be the male photographer. Here is a photo of him- his wardrobe will be similar to what he is wearing here:

I have a rough storyboard for my video: (excuse my sketching abilities..)

Here are some more detailed descriptions of the shots:

1) C/U of models’ face, pan out to show full scene of model moving/posing for photographer who is crouched in front of her.

2) C/U of photographer crouching in front of model. He is focused on his camera and has a slightly frustrated expression on his face.

3) MONTAGE: Model posing for photographer, photographer adjusting models’ dress while model attempts to touch him, model attempting to make eye contact with photographer/staring intensely at him, different angles/profile views of characters, details of hair, makeup, dress, shoes..

4) Wide Shot of photographer rising and walking off camera.

5) C/U models’ face looking concerned/confused.

6) Waist up shot of photographer walking back onto scene- he is smirking and making eye contact with the model for the first time. You get a glimpse of the paint can.

7) C/U of models face excited.

8) Wide Shot of photographer walking up to model and pouring paint on her.

9) C/U of model with paint on her- a pained expression on her face.

Final Project Proposal

I want to create a music video to the song “Vanished” by Crystal Castles for my final project of this semester.

A couple years ago, I saw Lady Gaga in concert. I’ve never been an extreme fan of hers, but I do think a lot of the things she does can be inspiring artistically. During her concert, there were several video interludes that played between song and set changes. The two links I’m posting below are two of the interludes that played during the concert. The second is only the first 2:30 of the video. I like these videos for their creative editing techniques and interesting visual appeal.

Here is the current music video for Vanished.. and I feel that it’s pretty static and uninteresting.

My basic idea for the video is this- I want it to be a video of a fashion photoshoot. The setting will be in the studio, with a model in a white or solid colored dress. For many of the shots, she will be dancing, moving, and selling the garment she is wearing. I need to hammer out what exactly I want to happen by the end of the video- I’m tossing around ideas like the garment being destroyed with paint, introducing a male character, or somethin’…

My goals for next week are to find my dress, my model, and to have a solid plan for the video.

UPDATE:
I now have a solid narrative for this shoot. As I said, this video will be of a fashion photoshoot. I have decided to introduce a male character into the video- he will be the photographer. I will be videotaping him taking photos of the model, and during the shoot, the model will be attempting to seduce the photographer, trying desperately to get him to see her as more than just a fashion “tool” for his artistic vision. She becomes excited when he gets up and approaches her, but then realizes he is just approaching her because he has an idea to make the photos more exciting- and he pours paint all over her.
